About Us
The Department of Paramedical Sciences, HIMS, aims to be a Centre of Excellence and deliver high-quality teaching-learning in the areas of Paramedics. We enable our students to be technical experts and support medical professionals to impart improved healthcare to society.
Our department adopts a multi-disciplinary approach and engages students through a wide range of advanced academic activities such as conferences, seminars, special workshops, research-based projects, assignments, etc.
Access to 1200 bed teaching hospital, NABL-accredited labs, sophisticated operation theatres, etc., provides exposure to students on a wide spectrum of diseases and keeps them up-to-date on the latest developments in the field.
We have a highly competent team of faculty with a combination of both clinical & academic, who not only provide theoretical knowledge but also empower students with applied skills such as field postings, patient interactions, training in simulated environments to deal with invasive procedures exposure to critical patients, etc.
With the expanding technological advancement in the healthcare industry, there is an upsurge in demand for skilled paramedical professionals. This has opened career avenues in hospitals, public health laboratories, pharmaceuticals, the medical instrument sector, and research. Besides, private practice or specialization through fellowship programs in different branches of the related course may be undertaken.
Teaching & Training

Our academic activities are recognized as progressive and clinically relevant with a focus on practical learning, innovation, skill development, and exposure to the latest advancements in Nursing.
Students receive knowledge and skills through lessons in laboratories, guest lectures from industry experts, tutorials, visits to companies, workshops, seminars, inter-disciplinary programs & projects, small group activities, and individual discussions, selectively utilizing multimedia and digital platforms.
Students also get extensive exposure in a range of nursing fields, including specialist labs, conferences, seminars, special workshops, research-based projects, and assignments/field projects. Besides theoretical knowledge, students are empowered with applied skills such as field postings, patient interactions, training in a simulated environments to deal with treatment procedures, and exposure critical to patient management and rehabilitation.
Faculty
Department of Paramedical Sciences has a highly competent team of experienced & dedicated faculty with a combination of academia and clinical. Entire HIMS teaching faculty has doctoral degrees and are research experts who help render quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate students assisting them in developing expertise and in-depth understanding of the paramedical sciences.

Our Placement Cell has exceptional links with healthcare industry and leading research institutions, besides providing ‘Summer Internship’ and 100% placement support.

Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom)
In this program, students gain an understanding of structure & functioning of the eye.
Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP)
Audiology deals with study of sound, hearing & balance disorders. Speech Language Pathology deals with the study of communication disorders i.e. speech and languages.
B.Sc. Medical Technology – Laboratory (BMLT)
The program aims to provide technical training in laboratory medicine.
B.Sc. Medical Technology – Operation Theatre (BOT)
This program equips students to assist in the administration & monitoring of anesthesia and surgery.
Bachelor of Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy (under Orthopedics) has been in existence in Himalayan Hospital since 1994 as a physical Rehabilitation Department which was later renamed as Physiotherapy, in 1998.
B.Sc. Medical Technology – Radiography & Imaging (BRIT)
This program trains the students to become efficient & knowledgeable radiographers and perform diagnostic tests in medical treatment with the use of radiation.
B.Sc. Medical Technology – Radiotherapy (BRT)
The Radiotherapy program prepares graduates to meet the scope of practice standards for radiation therapy.
Master of Physiotherapy
The Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) program helps students build their specialization across functional areas viz. neurology, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary & intensive care and community based rehabilitation (CBR).
Diploma in Dialysis Technology
In a healthy human body, kidneys are responsible for purifying the blood. Due to reasons such as kidney failure body becomes unable to carry out this purification process.
Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology (P.D. (Cl. Psy))
P.D.(Cl.Psy.) is a comprehensive diploma program designed to provide aspiring psychologists with expertise, practical skills, and hands-on experience in the field of Clinical Psychology.
