The Award

The ‘Swami Rama Humanitarian Award’ is dedicated in fond memory of H.H. Dr. Swami Rama, Founder of ‘Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust’ (HIHT), the Promoting Society of Swami Rama Himalayan University.
The Award shall be bestowed upon an individual, association, institution or organization that has selflessly & significantly contributed in the field of economics, environment, science & technology, societal issues and spirituality irrespective of whether he holds a high public office or not.
There shall be only one Award each year and it shall consist of cash amount of Rs. 10 lakhs (Rupees ten lakhs only) and a Medal, as of now.
The award shall be bestowed every year on the Mahasamadhi Day of H.H. Dr. Swami Rama, which falls on 13th November.
Joint Award : The Award may be divided between two persons/ associations, institutions or organizations who are considered by the Jury to be equally deserving of recognition in a given year.
Posthumous Award : Work by a person since deceased cannot be the subject of an Award. If, however, his death occurred subsequent to a proposal/nomination having been submitted to the Jury in the manner stipulated in this code, then a Posthumous Award may be made.
