HIMS-NIRF
The first medical college in the state of Uttarakhand, and the first to introduce Ph.D. program in medical sciences in the state, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) has a unique environment oriented towards ‘learning’. We pride ourselves in having the most competent faculty from the best medical colleges of India and abroad with academic and professional excellence.
Our institute provides excellent facilities to the students so that they can excel in the field of medicine. The learner and teacher are equally essential in the process of learning, thus it is a matter of pride that we have able & experienced faculty to guide and mentor our students.
With a 1200-bed Himalayan Hospital – the largest super-specialty post graduate teaching hospital in the state covering all specialties and super-specialties, we give the students ample opportunities to learn clinical medicine. The departments are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment/ machines and all our labs are NABL accredited.
SHIMS with lush green Wi-Fi enabled campus provides conducive environment for the students, so that they remain focused on learning. Library is open on all working days with latest books and has free access to more than ten thousand national & international journals.
The Department of Medical Education is a unique feature of this institute and has the distinction of being recognized as a Regional Centre for Faculty Development by National Medical Commission of India, to train medical faculty of 19 Medical Colleges of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Apart from MBBS, HIMS runs Postgraduate (M.D., / M.S., Diploma and Certificate) programs duly recognized by MCI NMC in all clinical, pre-clinical and para-clinical branches in addition to Postdoctoral/ Ph.D. and fellowship programs.

Besides theoretical knowledge students are empowered with applied skills such as field postings, patient interactions, training in a simulated environments to deal with treatment procedures and exposure critical to patient management and rehabilitation
