About Us

Pediatrics is one of the oldest departments of the University. It has very well experienced and highly efficient faculty and offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. They are not only trained for clinical practice but have also undergone rigorous training in imparting medical education.

The Department is engaged in teaching of Pediatric (didactic lectures, tutorials, self- directed learning, vertical & horizontal integrated teaching, group discussion, AETCOM classes) for under -graduate , post graduate and paramedical programs of the university. We organize Under-graduate & Post-graduate medical and nurses quiz competitions under the aegis of Indian academy of Pediatrics (IAP) & National Neonatology Forum (NNF) and we are International Training Centre (AHA-ITC) for Paediatric advanced life support (PALS) as well as Basic and Advanced Neonatal resuscitation program (NRP). The department houses secretariat of "Uttarakhand Neonatology Society".

We cater patients from newborn to adolescents with provision of 120 bed in - patient facility covering entire gamut of illnesses and disorders along with well-equipped and staffed intensive care unit (PICU) for critically sick children. There is provision of latest gadgets for invasive & non-invasive monitoring, procedures and mechanical ventilation in NICU and PICU.

Department also runs High Dependency Unit (HDU) for children and neonatal High Dependency Unit (Neo HDU) for newborns who need special care and close monitoring as well as child-friendly outpatient Department.

Pediatric Hemato Oncology, Pediatric Neurology & Neuro developmental, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Pulmonology & Asthma Pediatric Cardiology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Infectious disease

Further, there is a Pediatric Hematonchology unit which performs bone marrow and stem cell transplants on regular basis. Services provided here are impacting lives of many children not only in the surrounding areas but also in the neighbouring states of Himachal and Uttar Pradesh. Department is also involved in various community outreach programs in rural and remote hilly terrains of Himalayas.

Immunization programme, breast feeding promotion initiative and ‘under five clinics’ along with celebrating important health awareness events like Autism, Asthma, breast feeding week are some of the efforts to fulfil our motto.

We frequently hold CME's, Workshops and Training courses and programs on various Pediatric and Neonatal topics of interest. Our department is deeply engaged in research activities inform of postgraduate thesis along with intramural and extramural projects.

The department has a rich library and subscribes to various National/International Journals to support research work of the students and faculty. Rigorous training, under close faculty guidance, is imparted to the students. Consequently, Post Graduate students trained here become Pediatricians of good repute.

Organize academic activities such as didactic lectures, tutorials, self-directed learning, and specialized clinics to enhance the knowledge and skills of students and faculty.

Serve as a center for professional development and knowledge exchange by hosting medical quiz competitions, neonatal resuscitation training programs, and community outreach initiatives.
