Research in Pharmacology

Overview

The Ph.D programme in pharmacology offers focused training which integrates basic clinical sciences with experimental pharmacology and equips students with essential skills as a pharmacologist. Ph.D candidates will also acquire core skills in clinical pharmacology, drug development and regulatory & ethical principles in therapeutics and clinical research.

Research Facilities

An established Adverse Drug Reaction monitoring centre under the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission already exists in the department. The pharmacology department also supports and guides a well-equipped and functional hospital based pharmacy for both indoor and outdoor patients with its own formulary which can provide a base for drug utilization and pharmacy-epidemiological studies. In addition, there are research facilities in clinical pharmacology lab, chemical lab, pharmacy lab as well as a computer lab. The 1000 bedded hospital and a separate cancer research institute provides all the facilities required for interdepartmental clinical research. Interdepartmental facilities like PCR,flowcytometery and others are also available for research and diagnostic purposes.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Subjects :

Master’s degree in Pharmacology, or any other related fields

Eligibility to Seek Admission in Ph.D. Programme :

Candidates who have completed any of the following :

1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree programme

OR

2-year/4-semester master's degree programme after a 3-year bachelor's degree programme

OR

Qualifications declared equivalent to the master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body

Note -

  • The Ph.D. scholars who are enrolled in the Ph.D. program, shall continue to pay the tuition fee until submission of their final thesis within the stipulated duration as prescribed by the University from time to time.
  • Duplicate Degree fee ?1,000/- shall be charged subject to the condition that the original Degree has been mutilated/ lost.
